The SDG Students Program, which stands for the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN was created by SDSN (Sustainable Development Solutions Network) and was launched by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in 2012. SDSN Youth is an official youth initiative created by SDSN in 2015 to empower youth globally to create sustainable development solutions.

At Seneca College, SDSN Youth and SDSN Canada use the SDG Students Program umbrella to work with SDG Coordinators, who are volunteers that work with local SDSN networks to ensure that all students in their university/campus are aware of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)understand their importance to the wider community and have opportunities to take actions towards their implementation during their studies, and after they graduate.
